Hawthorne and Maisy developed Maisy's photos and found some shots of interest:
Maisy’s Ceramic Snoopy Photos (24 Shot Roll)
The first half of this roll is a thorough historical record of Kyle’s life and fashion mistakes between the ages of fifteen and eighteen. Every one of these photos is terribly incriminating, a story of a young man living in small town America just trying to be cool while his mother loves him very much. Judging by the frosted tips and puffy Miami Dolphins jacket, these photos seem to be from the late 90s. It looks like at some point, Kyle got his hands on this roll, himself, because there are some very teenager-y shots, too: a straight-down shot of Kyle and his friends’ shoes, a plastic bag caught in a tree, some graffiti of a penis drawn somewhere in town.
(Shot 17) Taken from the far side of Peckenpaugh’s bridge. In the distance, a blurry Kyle is talking to someone who appears to have insect wings. It’s hard to tell, but it looks like Pocket.
(Shot 18) This shot is taken in what appears to be a cave, done with flash so the colors are strange. Piles of knick-knacks, personal possessions and school supplies are intermixed with piles of smooth stones, like a dragon’s hoard. The shot’s a little blurry, but everything seems to be coated in lichen or moss.
(Shot 19) In the same location as the previous photo, a strange cowled mask, scorched and broken, has been centered in the shot. Behind it, a pile of heavily lichened-over odds and ends. It’s hard to make out what all is there — muggle things like an old corded telephone and a bicycle wheel stick out.
(Shots 20 - 23) More photos from this cave junk hoard. Close up photos of the piles of stones, of the lichen, of the possessions, most of which seem to be things that would’ve been nicked from students: cute erasers, trapper keepers, a walkman, pogs, a beanie baby…
(Shot 24) This blurry photo appears to have been snapped in a hurry. A shadowy hand reaches toward the camera, the form it belongs to is impossible to make out, but behind them the iridescent shine of something like wings…
Maisy’s Old School Camera Photos (12 Shot Roll)
(Shot 1) An idyllic photo of the Central Green in full bloom, a few muscheron run by in one corner. Centered in the shot is a massive, majestic maple tree where the Surly Stump now stands. Its boughs are laden with seeds, leaves gently rustling in the breze.
(Shot 2) A photo of Mothgarden’s original House, a lovely old Victorian mansion that appears to have been built across pieces of land that float in the air. They bob up and down gently. Huh, wonder if those Mothgardeners didn’t get motion sickness?
(Shot 3 - 7) If you’re familiar with cicada broods, you can practically hear these pictures when you look at them. These are photos of clusters of cicadas covering nearly every surface of the Central Green taken from different spots in the park.
(Shot 8) Group photo of what appears to be a large group of friends or possibly a class. There’s a tall boy in the back row with a bright smile who bears a passing resemblance to Mr. Potkin. He’s standing beside a blonde boy in an oddly familiar cool leather jacket.
(Shot 9) A younger (and infinitely more alive) Mr. Qualls sitting at a table with a partially disassembled fax machine in front of him. He’s smiling as he hands a piece to a young man sitting next to him, that boy with the tousled curls and cool leather jacket. On his other side is an even younger boy with no jacket but the same mop of curly hair on his head, playing with a cord attached to the handset.
(Shot 10) Doc Potts, younger and arguably more handsome, standing in front of an unmarked building, the front window already cluttered with junk. He’s holding a rock, dark and shiny and oblong, and peering at it curiously. Every once in a while he tries to shake it. At least once he tries to bite it.
(Shot 11) A couple Peckenpaugh teachers standing outside a classroom. The teachers are mostly unfamiliar to current students, but there’s a very young Ms. Kwan off to the side, tying one of the teacher’s shoelaces together from afar.
(Shot 12) Four teachers standing in front of the house point banners. Mr. Qualls beneath Mothgarden. The teacher standing in front of the Deeplurk banner is vaguely familiar and has a very disappointed hand puppet on his hand, looking up at Deeplurk’s score in dismay, while the other three seem distracted by something happening out of frame. The photographer never caught what it was that was distracting them—at least not on this roll.
PSST HI SORRY I JUST WANTED TO SAY: Audrey had the wonderful idea to camp out near the falls to corner Pocket and would Maisy come if Audrey dragged her because she Would.
